Thermae Bath Spa occupies two buildings on Hot Bath Street, five minutes' walk from the Roman Baths. The New Royal Bath is the main building — four floors of pools, steam rooms, and relaxation areas, with the rooftop pool on the top floor. The Cross Bath, across the street, is an open-air thermal pool in a historic building, available for private hire and included in some packages.

Sessions run in two-hour and four-hour blocks. The two-hour session covers the rooftop pool, the ground-floor Minerva pool (indoor, 33.5°C), steam rooms infused with essential oils, and the relaxation room. Four-hour sessions are better value if you want a treatment, as the treatment time comes out of your session. Book the first slot of the day (9am) or an evening session (4:30pm) to avoid peak crowds.

The rooftop pool is the main reason to visit. On a clear day, the 360-degree view takes in the Abbey tower, the Georgian crescents on the hills, and the surrounding countryside. At night or in winter, with steam rising off the water, it is one of the more atmospheric experiences Bath offers. Bring a camera that is comfortable in humid conditions.
