Is the Kennet and Avon Canal towpath good for cycling?
Yes. The towpath from Bath east toward Bradford-on-Avon is flat, well surfaced for the first six miles, and almost entirely traffic-free. The 13-mile return journey to Bradford-on-Avon and back makes an excellent half-day. Bikes are available for hire from Pulteney Bridge (east bank) and from Bath city centre hire stations. Waterproof layers recommended regardless of the forecast.
Are there outdoor activities suitable for children in Bath this weekend?
Prior Park has open grounds suitable for children (National Trust, £5 child entry). Victoria Park has the largest play area in Bath — free access, with a boating lake and miniature railway running on weekends. Sydney Gardens is small but pleasant for young children.
