Herschel Museum of Astronomy

The house where William Herschel discovered Uranus. Small and well-curated. Particularly good for science-curious children. On New King Street, 10 minutes from the city centre.

In Claverton Manor, 2 miles from the city centre. The grounds are excellent for children; the American folk art and historical rooms are interesting and well-presented. Bus from the city centre or drive.

National Trust garden above the city with a famous Palladian bridge, lake, and good picnic spots. Steep terrain — pushchairs are challenging. Better for walking children (4+).
